With the Japanese yen on an increasingly upward path in terms of value, Honda is considering moving some of its Japanese production to the United States. This move by the company comes shortly after its rival, Toyota Motor Company, announced that it would be shipping U.S.-produced vehicles to South Korea for the first time to avoid damage from the strong yen. Honda already sends the U.S. version of the new Honda Accord to South Korea. Overall, the company sells four other models there: the Honda CR-V, the Honda CR-Z, the Honda Civic, and the Honda Insight. A possible free trade agreement between the U.S. and South Korea is another reason to decrease shipments from Japan.
