2012 Honda Pilot Wins SUV Shootout

It's always nice to see car ads that boast multiple features, lots of space and strong fuel efficiency, but what happens when a family of four actually uses the car? With all the kids and the gear does the car actually get the specified MPG? Is there really enough space? Cars.com held a contest to find out.

Dubbed the "37,000 Three-row SUV Shootout," Cars.com, MotorWeek and USA Today held a contest to see how SUVs stack up in real world conditions.

Roberts Honda is happy to report that the 2012 Honda Pilot won the Shootout after being put through its paces including a 230-mile highway drive to judge its actual MPG rating under real world conditions.

Below are just some of the features that helped the 2012 Honda Pilot excel:

-          250-hp, 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC V-6 engine
-          5-speed automatic transmission with grade logic control
-          4-wheel independent suspension
-          Advanced safety features: LATCH (lower anchors and tethers for children), Vehicle Stability Assist, three-row side curtain airbags with rollover sensor
-          Rear seat entertainment system with DVD
-          Integrated sunshades (available on the 2nd row)
-          Rearview camera
